    Endangered species? Right!

We had one roaming the 'hood in Indian Lakes a while back too. Saw in the paper last week that they estimate between 500-600 are in the area. Sounds low to me. Folks in the Tensas Refuge area consider them a menace.

Springhill has had one for several years now -

But he is more high-class - he strolls right down town and helps himself to unfinished cokes and chips in the local trash cans.....

Apparently, this one is a peeping tom, he was spotted looking into a window at the Fairfield Inn this morning.

We just got back from the Smoky Mountain National Park and they are all over that area. I think it is cool. Lately the ones from Louisiana have been migrating back into East Texas. I hope they continue to populate the North La. area and continue to flow back into East Texas. The bears in East Texas were hunted out years ago and were basically gone from Texas except in the Big Bend area so it's nice to see them back. The elk are actually making a comeback on their own down in SW Texas. I saw a bunch when we were hunting for mule deer a year ago. It was very cool.

with corn being $8 a sack, i kinda hope they stay where they're at and out of Lincoln parish. I'll feed the deer and turkeys but be danged if i want to feed a bear trying to fatten up for the winter.

How do you lose a bear in downtown Ruston?

Also, the e-mail from Tech said it was headed east along the railroad tracks.

I was told it was headed east so it could get back out into the woods, but they put the word out that it went west so no one would look for it. it was moving along the side of the tracks, hopefully it didnt try to cross 167.
