What's the deal with the friends thing? When you allow certain members as friends what does that accomplish that is different than just the normal board relationship with the other members. And, if it gets to be too many people requesting friend request, can we put like a fraternity application where we have a rush then all of the friends who are in the same friend list can vote on the new request and see if we want to let him in our friend group?

    SO many questions! Friends first:

    Reciprocal Friendships Between Users

As part of our new social networking system, users can now request that people on their buddy list confirm their friendship, after which time a person's list of confirmed friends will be viewable to other users.

One of the things I see the friends feature doing is that you can set your profile, blogs, picture galleries, even social groups so that only your "friends" can see them. That gives you some control of who can access some of your personal information.

    User Picture Galleries

vBulletin users can now create albums and upload pictures to their account.

The ability to view these albums and pictures can be limited by the user to just board staff and people on their buddy list if they want privacy.

This does NOT replace the phot gallery we currently have, but this is your own PERSONAL gallery which you can either share with people or choose not to.

Be creative here. YOU can set up ANY SOCIAL group you want! Want a Harley group and connect with other BB&B Harley riders? Create a group! Tailgating crews? Do it here! Tech golfing addic? Politically Liberal? Hunting, fishing, fantasy sports, gaming, etc.? You get the idea. You can share pictures in your group and leave messages and have your own topical "thread" just for your social group.

    User-Created Social Groups

To further social cohesion between users and to encourage people to make friends, vBulletin now includes a facility to allow users to create their own social/interest groups.

These groups are enhanced by having their own public messaging system, and the ability to add pictures to the group from user albums.

Todd, you can do WHATEVER you want to with your friend group.

BTW, there are still some more new features out there. And in case anyone is wondering, you can acces all of the above features through your user profile (click UserCP up in the navbar)

Okay, serious question. I noticed that when you request a friend there is also the other option to request that person as a contact. If you request them as a friend and they accept, does that also automatically make them a contact or do you have to go back through the process to request them as a contact? Is there an easier way to request them as a contact than having to type the name in all over again.

While typing this, I just realized I haven't requested Vette or dirtylegacy to my friend list. Better straighten that out I guess.

There used to be a "find more posts by user" option when you went to a user's profile. Is that gone, or have I just not found it yet?

It's there when you click on the user's name on one of his posts, but I haven't seen it if you go to the visitor's profile section.

Ah, thanks. That will help some of the time, but it would be nice to be able to search a user's name and then pull up their most recent posts.

All friends are contacts, not all contacts are friends. If you request a friend, they become a contact as well.

Thanks. Now what does the "contact" option do for you?

Anybody noticed the different picture attachment viewer yet? Just go to one of MoonPie's BTEII posts and click on the attachments. Or, if you *gasp* try to avoid that thread, just click Doc's attachment 4 posts above this one.
