Who is it?
I feel bad for leaving out a few people like Tarkenton, Baugh, and Namath..

Not Favre. I am assuming that you are referring to the NFL. If college were the topic, its Tommie Frazier and Vince Young, and then everyone else.
The best 'pro style' quarterback ever is probably already Peyton Manning. This will DEFINITELY be the case in 5 more seasons. If not him, then Dan Marino (don't give me this 'you must have won a championship to be considered' nonsense -- that's a team accomplishment)
The best dual threat guy ever in the NFL is easily Steve Young. I consider John Elway a pro style guy.
And who in the balls is Bobby Unitas
p.s. Terry will win this poll out of homerism.
No David Carr. no care
Sorry, I love Terry as much as the next Tech fan but I am going with Montana. Oh, and I have always hated the Niners. Maybe Fouts should be in there. Don't think Aikman belongs in this discussion as he was very good but not greatest of all time. Not complaining though it is hard to come up with a list like that. Manning needs to be up there, so does Brady.
There is no way to adequately compare QBs from different eras. Montana was a phenominal quarterback in the 1980's. However, in the 70's an NFL quarterback was "just another back" and not specially protected by rules. Bradshaw played with broken fingers, dislocated shoulders, numerous concussions,... I don't think Montana would have lasted 5 years if he entered the NFL in 1970 at the same age as Terry.
These two were clearly the best at their position during their respective eras.
If Montana gets so much credit for Super Bowls, I don't really see why Aikman shouldn't be considered. I'd never vote for him, but I wouldn't vote for Montana either.
It's not about the super bowls, although that adds to the legacy. More 4th quarter comebacks, last 2 minute warning comebacks than anyone I have ever seen. Extremely smart, read defense as good as anyone. Could put up crazy numbers as good as anyone or execute a conservative gameplan. He wasn't fast but he was mobile and could avoid the rush. The guy was unstoppable. If you didn't already know by my obnoxious posts I am a huge Cowboys homer and trust me Aikman was very good but not in Joe's class. Not top-10.
