Is being able to hand the ball off to Fred Taylor instead of Bobby Ray Tell relative??? Or having a defense that gives you more posessions??

What makes me sad is that he isn't remembered by most people as one of the best QB's ever. It's sad that so many people tie the pro success to the college success when it is really 2 different games. I also think not playing for a BCS team hurt him in that regard. He could read defenses better than many offensive coordinators. Simply amazing. It would be very, very cool to have him as a QB coach or OC someday. That would make my day.

NO. And if true I am not happy about it either. If he is coaching we need to find him a spot here at Tech. Then again, maybe he is already living in that area and is just doing this for fun because he loves the game.

Hope not 'cause if that's ( team success ) your basis for being a great college QB then Tee Martin is better than Peyton since HE led the Vols to their 1998 National title when they DID beat Florida.

Man, there's ALOT of attitude in this thread ( including mine!! ) but let's face it - there are WAY too many variables to consider in trying to pick the "greatest" athlete ( position or otherwise nor college vs pro ) in any sport. The players vary from era to era then ya have to factor in the system in which they played; their supporting cast ( coaches included ); the schedule they played - the list goes on & on. It certainly does make for good arguments, though!!!

If we're talking about best athlete at the position, I'd probably go with Charlie Ward or Tommie Frazier (or Tim Tebow), but I was more impressed with Danny W. as a QB than any of the others listed. Granted, I'm too young to have watched TB or Archie when they were in college.
