    Pre-Election Political Party Poll

Because we needed a thread with way too many P's in the title.

No, actually, because Luminaire is getting confused and can't tell who's being sarcastic when. So he wants to know where ya stand.

A simple poll. There are, of course, gray areas, but go with whatever party you are at least 50.0001% in agreement with. For example, I have a very strong Libertarian lean, and while there are some classic Republican elements to my platform (namely, no killing babies and a strong national defense -- not offense, but defense), due to this 50.0001% rule, I'm voting Libertarian in this poll.

    So, vote.

    Re: Pre-Election Political Party Poll

Far more than 50% Republican. My big differences: (1) I'm a little soft on crime. I am more afraid of a police state than I am of crime. Republicans tend to be legalistic.(2) Homework and summer reading. I'm not kidding either. Kids need a break from work just as adults do. The summer is the kids time, and I can't stand the intrusion. This crap was really started by New G. and it is stupid. (3) Belief that corporations are always right. They aren't. Corporations are necessary for our economy, but they have no conscious. For that reason, they sometimes get out of line and need to be held accountable. Republicans get blind to this.

The list of things I do agree with the Republicans is a mile long, so there is no reason to list all of them. I especially agree with the Republicans concerning the issues of a strong national defense (which sometimes means we have to go on offense to defend ourselves), a free market economy and as little taxation as can be had.

I'm with the libertarians except for the military issues, which I lean more republican with.

Republicans are too domineering on social issues and lately aren't even strong in economics.

For everyone who is voting for Obama, I hope you strongly consider the fact that you might actually be a socialist despite the fact that your candidate is running as a Democrat.

If you knew what pure socialism actually was instead of just a dirty word, you'd know Obama isnt actually a Socialist, no matter how much you call him one. But I guess that would go against the Republican platform of "If you say something enough, then people will believe it, regardless of the facts"

From what I've read from you on taxes and economics you seem like a socialist and seem to like your position.

No, I seem like a Republican's definition of socialist. Which is pretty far away from an actual socialist.

How about this? (I'm being honest...no flaming)

You can be overly defensive sometimes, my friend. I don't think anyone on here hates you for your political beliefs! At least, I don't. Plus you're a former CS guy and that counts for something.

But see, thats a mixing of socialism and capitalism. There's a lot of people on here who call democrats "socialist" and mean pure socialism- as proven by the multiple times Obama has been called a marxist (which he, of course, is not).

Incorporating *some* socialist ideals does not make someone 100% socialist. The clergy, the military, and several other institutions that Republicans have no issues with utilize socialist methodologies.

Oh, I know. Using the 50.0001% rule, you checked the right box. But there do seem to be some socialist elements to your belief set, so I went hunting for something and that's the closest thing I could find.

I'm not denying that I have some socialist tendencies, but so do Republicans. They just call it different things to pretend it isnt socialism.
