That's unbelievable. I may be in the minority here, but I also have a problem with the Little League rule that requires every player to play 3 defensive out and get at least one at-bat. I realize it's not all about winning, but what are we teaching these kids? That's not how the real-world operates.
The Little League rules are in place for a reason. They're trying to hone the all-around skills of a player while not burning them out. With that said... Get that kid down to Lake Charles and hire a pitching coach so he can win the LLWS in 3 years, play at Barbe or Shreve and get a pro contract out of high school. BTW, congratulation to the South Lake Charles boys. 4th in the world isn't bad at all! Hawaii blew everyone away, but I think if they had played Japan instead of Mexico in the finals they would have had a harder time.
BTW, the Shelton, CT team did pretty decent in the LLWS too, but they didn't make it to the playoffs. All young co-ed baseball leagues need to fold, IMO.
apparently this isn't really about him throwing too hard...just about him pitching for the wrong team. sounds like a bunch of sour apples wanted him to pitch for a team who had ties to the people who run the league and when he didn't, they decided to say he was a danger to the other kids only after his team was like 8-0 and on their way to a League Championship.
I dont have a problem with the everyone getting to play part of it. Every kid signs up and pays money to be in these leagues, I think everyone should get some playing time. If not, guys would not come out and play and possibly realize their potential if they suck at first. Not to mention, it shouldnt be an absolute microcausm of the real world. We are talking about 10 year old kids here. Also, making a terrible player get up and face a good pitcher teaches him about competing.
They're complaining about 40 mph? Even for a 9 year old, that's not outlandishly fast. There is definetly more to the story.
It is very sad to see stuff like this. I remember growing up having coaches of teams who were either ont he board or best friends with people on the board, and they always somehow ended up with the best players fromt he supplemental drafts and things like that. It is pretty amazing how pathetic people can be.
