    iPod

    Ok...so it's not important!

I got an iPod Classic (80GB) for Father's Day. I haven't been able to live without XM radio for almost 3 years now, and I am getting just about as bad about the damned iPod. I could spend $100/day adding songs...thank the good Lord I discovered the HiFi Rhino Five...I just wish they had more of a selection!

How many of you regulars are addicted...I have a feeling I'm gonna be surprised!
I'm an asshole! What's your excuse?

iPod touch user here. I plug it into my receiver and listen to tunes on my bookshelf speakers all the time. I ripped most of my CDs onto my computer, so I have really only used iTunes to fill in the gaps.

I have spent a pile on songs off the I-Tunes store, but also have copied every CD I have to fill it up!

Okay, here's a question I've always wanted an answer to...

I've noticed several radio programs and such mention "available for download on your ipod". So some people actually download talk shows and the like then listen to them on an ipod? What's that all about?

    Addicted beyond healthy...

I'm always buying music... right now, I have rougly $2,000 worth of music just waiting for me to buy, and am adding more to the list everyday. I buy maybe $100 at a time, just once or twice a month though.

    Re: iPod

My ipod has become almost an appendage to my body. When I leave the house in the morning, my check is: wallet, phone, keys, ipod. I rank the invention of the ipod somewhere among fire, the wheel, democracy and the printing press in terms of human achievement.

My addiction goes further. I bought a program called cucusoft which can convert DVDs into files that can be played on the ipod. I've got about 10 movies, all the Band of Brothers and quite a few episodes of Arrested Development. It can make a cross-country plane trip go by very fast. I also have a docking station connected to my tv that I can play the video on my TV.

So, how many have an iPod vrs. just an MP3 player? I have the latter and am wondering what I'm missing out on.

Their interface is very nice. iTunes makes it easier to sync and transfer files to your iPod.

SSD Hard drives (now, not sure about earlier models) makes you able to jog/run without music files skipping.

As for actual quality of playback, I'm not sure if there would be much a difference from iPod's and other mp3 players.

The iPod touch is almost not an mp3 player at all.. but more of a portable Mac. It has wifi capability, video playback, picture storage, Youtube, and more. You can add applications such as Google Maps to get directions.. but then again this is only where you have access to wifi.

The touch screen interface is very nice, and makes it easy to navigate through your files.

Also, it's the 'chic' mp3 player. Apple pretty much has that market cornered atm.

I subscribe to DJ Tiesto, a techno/trance/electronica/dance musician. I have all 74 of his podcast. Great music.

Other things I listen to randomly, but delete once I'm done listening to them, because I haven't found any more to subscribe or keep.

Think podcast along the lines of music videos, but without the video.

A bit off topic, but do you listen to any DnB? (Drum and Bass)

DJ Dieselboy is one of my favorites
