Come on, now. Everybody knows the rules for calling shotgun. If the guy who got slashed called it first then the other guy is clearly out of line. If the slasher called it first, though, then I can't see where there is a crime here.

Good point. Fox News is clearly speaking out of a fundamental ignorance of Redneck Sharia Law.

I once saw two close friends darn near come to blows over who had to ride in the middle in my S-10. I really thought they were both going to have to walk back to Ruston from Gulf Shores. Neither one would get in the truck. One guy finally caved, but it was a tense ride there for a while.

You don't mess around with shotgun rules. They are what hold the fabric of society together. I wonder why the framers neglected such an important natural law in our constitution. I mean it seems self-evident to me that our Creator endowed the first one to call shotgun the right to sit in the front seat (providing other rules were followed).

I got the visual of a single cab S-10. Was it also a standard? I bet there are several other stories that go along with that excursion.

It was a single cab. Not a stick, thank God. We didn't have to roll like that all the way, but from GS to Mobile (it was for a Sunbelt b-ball tournament). We had 4 in there at one point. And not little guys. It was kind of cold, but eventually one dude bailed and toughed it out in the back. Fun trip, but that was a tense ride like I said.
