the rock is cute but, much like tech drive, DAMN is it on a rough stretch of highway.
at least usm had the sense to, you know, PAINT their ugly-ass railroad bridge eyesore, though.
jumbotron=awesome!
Good to always hear about the improvements. Is there any news on when the basketball facility receives a video scoreboard or sound system?
I hope that its one of the HD ones too!
That is pretty high on my list of priorities. Basketball is going to be huge in getting us to a better conference. We can't fix our metro area or lack thereof. But one area we can positively effect conference revenue for all of our present and future conference mates is NCAA units. If Rupp does what I think he is going to do I think CUSA's heads are going to turn really fast in our direction. I think it will only take a couple of years. I would give Mr. Rupp all the recruiting tools he needs to seal the deal.
WOW sounds like some GREAT things in the works
Like this one?
This is excellent news. Both of these schools bring lots of fans to road games. I attended the Baylor-Army game in Waco last year and Army brought a solid 5K to that game from the local bases.Navy will come to Ruston in 2010 and Army is scheduled to visit in 2013.
The 4-game series with USM is a huge win/win for both schools.
It's also very encouraging to hear Van de Velde (sp?) say that most "regional schools" (e.g., Tulsa, Memphis, etc...) are very interested in scheduling us. That's quite a change from the Oakes years. Does anyone know what's prompted the change in attitude? Is is simply because these schools didn't like Oakes?
HD
My take from a distance is that it is probably a combination of 3 things.....
1) many of the schools that contracts have rolled in on in the last several months weren't being asked
2) the schools being asked said no either because they didn't like Oakes or the terms he was trying to dictate
3) the money situation probably has helped significantly...schools like Southern Miss would rather load up the buses knowing their fans can travel and knowing that they will increase ticket sales on their home games instead of loading up the charter planes for a payday with expenses eating up more of the profits.
