Oct. 17, 2008
RUSTON -- Louisiana Tech head coach Kerry Rupp announced Friday that Aubrey McCreary has agreed to join the Bulldogs coaching staff on an interim basis for the upcoming season.
"Coach McCreary will be a tremendous asset to our program this season," Rupp said. "He has an outstanding knowledge of the game. This will allow us as a staff to focus on getting ready for the upcoming season."
McCreary boasts over 25 years of coaching experience and has led four different teams to regional and district championships. He has also coached Pump and Run of the Adidas Travel Teams from 2000-2003.
He comes to Louisiana Tech after a very successful career as a player development specialist, working with NBA players such as Derek Fisher and Tech alum Paul Millsap.
Since 1997, McCreary has served as the assistant camp director for the Double Pump West Coast All-Star Camps as a clinician and instructor. McCreary has also been featured as guest speaker and instructor at the Adidas Superstar Camp in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
Rupp said he would conduct a national search and make a decision on a permanent hire in April following the completion of the season. "I am hopeful that Aubrey will want to apply for the permanent position following the season," Rupp said. "This will give him an opportunity to see what our program is about and it will give us an opportunity to get more familiar with him. It's a win-win situation."
