1. There was never any tangible evidence that should have given anyone a reason to be upset that we lost at Kansas, at Boise at Hawaii. However, the coaching staff seems to be excessively emotional about losing those three road games, so much so that it appears to be a detriment to the teams confidence level.
2. Our D-line is very good at stopping the run at the line, but our linebackers seem to be unable to multitask. If they guess correctly ( run) they are not bad, but fool them and they cannot compensate and make up ground or tackle. Play action passes just kill us. Our secondary, one of worst I have ever seen. Exposed during the MS game. MS just failed to take advantage of it..But exposed it nonetheless, and every opponent has proven it since. If Idaho would not have been so horribly disorganized they would have had 3 maybe 4 (the fake kick) more TD’s in the air and made the game much closer.
3. We have the softest tackling Defense in the conf. There is no one on our team that consistently (or ever) puts a hurt or fear into opposing runners or receivers. This makes life great for opposing QB’s. Dooley always talks about our defense like it was the chosen child. But the fact is all three road games could have been made closer games and proud to watch if we could open field tackle, smack someone in the mouth, or lay out a few receivers. Especially Boise!
4. The O-line is even worse than our secondary. (exception being the Idaho Union High School game) Not only can we not form a pocket…I doubt they could indentify one on paper. Make some changes and stop blaming the QB.
5. Livas may have the quickest feet in college football. If he learns the “art” of separation” he could double his catches and triple his yardage. (Do we even have a receivers coach?)
6. As good as Keagle is in practice. He consistently booms 60 yarders that draw rain. (in practice and pre-game) During game he backs down to 41 yards. Who is coaching this Kid? He should be the best in the country…easily! 50 yard average and a Ray Guy award were well within his domain.
7. Too many missed field goals…several key misses. Need to get back to reality and start living up to his MS game hype. And with our lack of red zone offense we need a kicker to be nothing but money. Missed FG's kill game morale.
8. Coaches need to stop blaming the QB’s (this will force the rest of the team and coaches to take a hard look at themselves instead of using a QB controversy as an excuse to produce crap. The offense, in every game moves the ball down the field with relative consistency. Fix 31 dropped passes (better coaching) and 8 completions and 3 TD's brought back on penalties. (Better coaching) and 2 PI’s TD not gotten. (better officiating) and the offense stats would look awesome. Fix this and we finish out the season with all wins.
9. REDZONE !!! Anyone who knows football knows that redzone football is a whole different animal and mind set. Except for Scelfo, who keeps trying the same failed plays over and over again and then blames the QB. Note: to Scelfo.. Passing in the redzone is a very low percentage option, unless you have a 6’4” receiver with 42” vert who can also catch. Or a big tight end with hands of glue. We have no 3rd and short money plays or players. So find one off the bench .. Or go home and shut up. No, Idaho Union High School redzone stats don’t count.
10. This is a team of underachievers. Yes we should have lost the KNs, BS, HW . But the play should have been progressing and the team’s attitude should have been climbing not falling. This is a coaching problem! There are glaring issues on defense that go Un- fixed. 5 or 6 key role players who are underachieving mostly because of technique issues and the inability of the position coaches to make adjustments. The Coaches continue to try and fit square pegs into round holes and hype blame were blame should not be hyped. So far, This is a B+ team with D- minus coaching.
