    Lowering the bar...

I used to think, no way could I be President of the United States. Presidents are larger than life. They are great men (so far, all men). Historic figures like George Washington, Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Ike, JFK, Nixon (hmmmmm...) and the best of them all Ronald Reagan.

Then, along came Bill Clinton and he shamed and dishonored the office. Maybe these men aren't so honorable after all....and along came GWB, maybe these guys aren't so smart after all, and now Barrack Hussein Obama? with all of 140 days of "experience." Has never run a business, has never held an executive position in government, hasn't even been a strong legislator, hell! he's spent more time campaigning for ANOTHER job, then doing the job he's being paid for.

The bar is on the ground. It is true, ANYONE can be president. There are truly NO qualifications for the job.

I agree- the bar is lower. I am not a McCain fan, but at least he is a good man. Obama is just evil and we will reap the rewards of electing him IF we do. Those that hang out with terrorist and Louis Ferrakan are not people to be trusted.

At least that is what we are all told growing up... :icon_wink:

Seriously, the only qualifications for President is to be at least 35 years of age and a US citizen. I think that the Framers wanted to keep it that way so that anyone could be President and that the US would not develop "royal families" or make the Presidency so restrictive that it would exclude most of the population from ever being considered.

My beef is that the existing system is so entrenched that "outsiders" (anybody not from either of the two major parties) have little or no say in the process. Kind of reminds me of the BCS for that matter....

I think it's a global crisis. Name one strong world leader in the last 20 years. I think Reagan was the last strong world leader.

Yes, Reagan and Thatcher were the last two that I can think of. Putin is strong, but not in a good way.

    It truly amuse me......
That so many Americans who once used THEIR vote to elect a mental midget...... TWICE......
Now fear the prospect of an obviously intelligent mulato being hired to replace their born-again drunk.

Be it McCain or Obama on Tuesday......
How much worse could it get?

Or perhaps there are some dawgs who would prefer another 4 years of little george?
If so...... Stand up and be counted now!

    Cheers and good night.
I'll check for any replies by dawn. LOL!
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said...... But I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

    Re: Lowering the bar...

Spinny boy I did NOT vote for GWB, I voted AGAINST Gore and Kerry, and their brand of stupid socialism and silliness.

Likewise, tomorrow, my vote is AGAINST another socialist. A worst one!

There was a thread on this forum a while back when this was discussed. I stated, quite clearly, in my lifetime there has been only one presidential candidate that I have voted FOR and that was Ronald Reagan.

Other than that, I have voted against the socialist candidates.

Funny thing is, and then is has been conveniently forgotten by too many voters and of course, the liberal media, but the libs were laughing that McCain got the nomination because he is anything but conservative. He is truly moderate. He is truly non-partisan. He is probably a great choice precisely because he does reach across the aisle and would be a great choice now to serve as some kind of check and balance against the ultra-liberal congress.

    Jeepers, nice oxymoron Spinoza.

This clown doesn't even understand how a free market economy works....obviously, you don't either.

dawg80 nailed it, you either want to move toward socialism or you don't.

Both McCain and Obama represent a step toward socialism, IMO. One step is just larger than the other.
    Jordan Mills on choosing Tech:
“It’s a great experience seeing them play. It was a good atmosphere. The fans stood up the whole game and never sat down. They have a great fan base.”

You are right. One is MUCH bigger than the other, though.

Oh well, unless McCain pulls off a miracle rally, like the Tech Baseball Dawgs did against Mississippi State that time...it's the ultra socialist in there.

Sure GWB had a rough last two years with the bail out package and illegal emigration, but he hasn't been THAT bad of a president. Before 9-11, which would change any president's agenda, he was going to balance the budget and had a fair amount of other conservative views. It just that when 9-11 happened he had created the dept of homeland security and started a spending spree. As for the war in iraq, middle east, how many of yall were PISSED that something like that happened....

Overall I think history will remember him as an avg president who went a little liberal on us toward the end. It is not like he persecuted anyone.

According to some, that's not true...
