    Frown Obama's Road to Damascus

Link for the rest of this article as it will astound many on here that are plugged into the vital role that America has played and currently plays in the past present and future (prophetic as well obviously) defense and blessing of Israel and her people. This should worry us indeed.

    Obama's Road to Damascus

    Posted GMT 11-11-2008 9:0:20

History will record that Barack Obama’s first act of diplomacy as America’s president-elect took place two days after his election victory, when he dispatched his senior foreign-policy adviser, Robert Malley, to meet with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad—to outline for them the forthcoming administration’s Mideast policy vis-ŕ-vis those nations. An aide to Malley reports, “The tenor of the messages was that the Obama administration would take into greater account Egyptian and Syrian interests” than has President Bush. The Bush administration, it should be noted, has rightly recognized Syria to be not only a chief supporter of the al Qaeda insurgency in Iraq, but also the headquarters of the terrorist organization Palestinian Islamic Jihad and the longtime sponsor of Hamas—the terrorist army whose founding charter is irrevocably committed to the annihilation of Israel. Yet unlike President Bush, Obama and Malley have called for Israel to engage in peace negotiations with Syria.

Japan: Secret Syrian-Iranian-NKorean missile-test fails, kills 20 Syrians

    DEBKAfile Special Report
    August 15, 2009, 1:45 PM (GMT+02:00)

Japanese intelligence has learned that in late May, Iran, Syria and North Korea secretly test-launched in southern Syria a new short-range ballistic missile developed jointly by Pyongyang, Tehran and Damascus as a substitute for the outdated Scuds still in use in their armed forces, DEBKAfile's military sources report. In May, several new missiles were flown from North Korea and Iran to the Damascus military airfield and thence to Syria's southeastern missile-testing site at Jebel Druze near the small town of Salakhand.
After two weeks' preparation, two of the new projectiles had their first trial-launch - and failed with disastrous results.
DEBKAfile's sources report that they targeted an uninhabited desert area in the North, 500 kilometers away, just south of Ayn Diwar and east of Al Qamishli not far from the Syrian-Turkish-Iraqi border intersection.
(It was here that Syria and Iraq, with Russian help, interred Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction in 2001.)
However, one of the missiles strayed 350-400 km west of its projected course, indicating a problem with its guidance system. It exploded in the center of the small town of Manbij north of Aleppo near the Turkish border, killing at least 20 people, injuring 60 and badly damaging the market town.
The second missile exploded in mid-course in the South, over the north of the town of Abu Kamal and 200 kilometers from its launching site. Syrian military authorities closed the area around the stricken town of Manbij for more than a month, attributing the disaster to a gas explosion.
Japanese intelligence sources, who are anxiously tracking the growing missile collaboration between North Korea, Iran and Syria, do not name the failed new missile, but DEBKAfile's military sources suggest it was a short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) propelled by solid fuel with a range of 800-1,000 kilometers and fitted with a warhead containing between 800 kilos and one ton of explosives. This would be an improvement on most of the three nations' short-range missiles which are powered with liquid fuel.

Assad slams the door on Obama and on talks with Israel

    DEBKAfile Special Report
    August 14, 2009, 12:39 PM (GMT+02:00)
    Better friends than ever

The Syrian ruler Bashar Assad has publicly rejected Barack Obama's overtures for a Washington-Damascus détente - which was supposed to hinge on detaching Syria from Iran - and blocked the path to peace talks with Israel. Next week, Assad flies to Tehran, announcing his purpose is to strengthen ties between the two countries.
Follow the sequence of events leading to this breakdown of Obama's Middle East program in DEBKAfile Exclusive Report below.

The "New Hizballah" built by Syria sparks ME summer war fear
    DEBKAfile Exclusive Report April 18, 2010, 5:24 PM (GMT+02:00)

DEBKAfile's military sources disclose a master-plan charted in Tehran and Damascus for transforming the 25,000-strong Hizballah terrorist militia into an organized, mobile army with a whole range of sophisticated missiles and other weapons. The new Hizballah is being trained to carry out such offensive operations as capturing parts of Israel's Galilee and equipped with the hardware for knocking out warplanes, warships and armored strength. Deliveries have begun.
One of their missions will be to defend the Syrian capital, Damascus. Tehran and Damascus calculate that the next time a war erupts on Israel's borders, its army will try and outflank Syrian forces on the Golan and drive past the units defending Damascus. That is where Hizballah is expected to come in.
Even after the Kuwaiti Al Rai claim that Syria had smuggled Scud ground missiles into Lebanon proved inaccurate and was denied in Washington, regional war tensions remained high - although not for the reason ascribed by Jordan's King Abdullah during his current visit to Washington.
The king forecast an outbreak of Middle East hostilities in the coming summer because of the Israel-Palestinian diplomatic stalemate. What's the connection? Our sources ask. Rather than admit he is nervously watching his aggressive Arab neighbor to the north, the Jordanian ruler is pinning the region's troubles on Israel because it is the right tune to sing in Barack Obama's Washington.
In actual fact, a Middle East war this summer depends on two actions which have nothing to do with the Palestinians: a decision by the US and/or Israel to strike Iran's nuclear facilities together or separately, and a decision in Tehran to unleash its allies against Israel - spearheaded by Hizballah - to preempt such an attack.
Ready to step into its new shoes, Hizballah is being armed with five major military capabilities,

FWIW from my studies and readings of prophecy; poor I admit but still worth checking out I think. :icon_wink:
This might be a time for a little refresher on Damascus, Syria per the Bible and prophecy yet to occur. The below has never happened in the history of Damascus....yet. And as you see Israel will be the one to do it. But it will come at a huge loss to them as well. Could this be the time? Could Israel attempt this in order to send a warning shot across Iran's bow? The rest of the earth will not be happy. But this is prophesied to happen nonetheless. Read this chapter per the link I provided below.

    U.S. Confronts Syria Over
    'Provocative Behavior'

State Department questions Syrian diplomat about supplying arms to Iranian-aligned militant group Hezbollah.

    Associated Press
    Updated April 19, 2010

WASHINGTON -- The State Department summoned the senior Syrian diplomat in Washington on Monday to accuse his government of "provocative behavior" in supplying arms to the Iranian-aligned militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon.

A department statement announcing the complaint was imprecise about the alleged arms deals by the Syrians. It alluded to the transfer to Hezbollah of Scud ballistic missiles but did not say explicitly that Syria was behind such a deal.

Israel's President Shimon Peres last week directly accused Damascus of providing the missiles, which can carry a warhead of up to one ton, making them far larger than the biggest rockets previously in Hezbollah's arsenal. They are also more accurate.

The State Department said deputy chief of mission Zouheir Jabbour was called in to "review Syria's provocative behavior concerning the potential transfer of arms to Hezbollah." It went on to say that providing Hezbollah with Scud missiles risked escalating tensions in the volatile region.

"The United States condemns in the strongest terms the transfer of any arms, and especially ballistic missile systems such as the Scud, from Syria to Hezbollah," the statement said. "The transfer of these arms can only have a destabilizing effect on the region, and would pose an immediate threat to both the security of Israel and the sovereignty of Lebanon."

Iran, Syria, Hizballah gear up to provoke summer war

    DEBKAfile Special Report April 28, 2010, 1:31 PM (GMT+02:00)
Tags: Ehud Barak Hizballah Robert Gates

US defense secretary Robert Gates said Tuesday night, April 27: "Hizballah has far more rockets and missile than most governments in the world." He and Israeli defense minister Ehud Barak were talking to reporters after their talks in the Pentagon. Military sources did not see his as high commendation for Barak's achievements as defense minister. All he had to contribute on this occasion was: "We do not intend to provoke any kind of major collision in Lebanon or with Syria, but are watching closely these developments."
Gates went on to accuse Syria and Iran of "providing Hizballah with rockets of ever-increasing capability," adding, "This is obviously destabilizing for the whole region and we're watching it very carefully.
Both defense chiefs seemed to think that careful watching would somehow erase the hostile buildup of deadly hardware. In fact, Barak's comment told Iran, Syria and Hizballah they had nothing to fear from continuing their "carefully watched" buildup, even though Syria took it a step forward this month. As DEBKAfile's military sources reported last week, Syrian instructors have trained two Hizballah brigades in the use of mobile Scud missiles which carry one-ton warheads. It does not matter if those missiles are moved physically across the border to Lebanon, because those brigades can operate them against Israel at short notice from either side of the border.
Our Washington sources report that Syrian president Bashar Assad, under heavy pressure from Washington to keep the Scuds out of Hizballah's hands, explained to the Obama administration through diplomatic channels that as long as they were kept inside Syria, the Scuds must be seen as a defensive and deterrent weapon against a possible Israeli attack on Lebanon and Syria. He thus placed on Israel the onus for any future outbreak of hostilities.
Gates' accusation of Iran and Syria Tuesday was the administration's way of telling Damascus that it does not buy that message.
Unlike the United States, Israel has a ringside seat for watching the rockets and missiles pile up just across its 70-kilometer long border with Lebanon. Gates' comment - and even more Barak's assurance - gave Syria and the Hizballah space to carry on building a mighty arsenal, which is aimed at only one country, Israel.
Barak as defense minister, prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Israel's security chiefs need to explain how Hizballah was allowed in the four years since the 2006 war to pile up tens of thousands of rockets and missiles, which in volume and sophistication have already overtaken the weaponry that battered northern Israel then and which have extended their reach to all parts of Israel.
"Careful watch" - without corresponding action to interrupt the massive flow of weapons shipments constantly smuggled in from Syria to Hizballah - is a repeat of the misplaced self-restraint which invited the Hizballah to launch the last Lebanon conflict in the summer of 2006. Dragging Israeli and its homeland into war in the summer of 2010 would serve the political and military interests of Iran, Syria and Hizballah well. It would generate a Middle East crisis overwhelming enough to focus international efforts on calming the situation, so distracting the world's attention Iran's arrival at the critical stages of its nuclear bomb program and its drive for sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

You are correct in your watching as this is the one issue that's keeps getting hotter and hotter with not near enough attention being paid to it! Don't underestimate Netanyahu being in place at this critical time. He is one sharp and decisive dude IMO!

This issue doesn't rile up the BHO voting block (blacks and hispanics by his own defintion). They'd rather focus on boycotting Arizona and inserting taxes into the new immigration legislation. I'd say they want to keep that voting block dumbed down, but how do you make dumb dumber? Who cares about WWIII?

IMHO, we are getting very close. No, we don't know the day nor the hour but we will know the "season". And Israel is the timepiece. Keep your eyes on Israel and your heart and focus on Christ and pray.

Looks to me like another mid-east war would hide nicely the mess Obama is piling on everyone who isn't too lazy to work .... he could blame a further crippled economy on the war rather than his sorry ability to lead.

Book it, despite the rhetoric, he wants to back this thing off the side of a cliff betting that socialism will emerge out of what is left.
