Gawd! what memories. Went to Tulane games on Saturdays and Saints games on Sunday, and to the Sugar Bowl too! (never missed a Sugar Bowl there from 1967-1974). Dome opened in '75.

Tulane will continue to suck until they get a stadium on campus. FACT.

And a colorful past
Unfortunately I never got to see that stadium, it reminds me a lot of the Big House where Michigan plays at. It's got those same lines as that stadium from the pictures at least.
The stadium was opened in 1926, composed of brick and concrete, with a seating capacity of 35,000. It was expanded with metal seating in the 50's to seat 80,985 fans. The record attendance was set at 86,598 on 1 December 1973 when Tulane beat LSU 14 - 0, ending a 25 year winless streak for Tulane. It was also the last time the LSU - Tulane rivalry was played on the Tulane campus.
Great history, kind of makes you wish the stadium was still standing today just for that reason, but then you get back into the argument of tear down for better facilities to be put in its place, be it a stadium or anything else. I guess the space is better used for the Rec Center that now sits there.
wow - what a neat looking - packed stadium...........how did tulane go from 80,000 fans to a bottom feeder?
How bad must it suck to be a Tulane alumnus? Most schools are trying to get to where they were 60 years ago.
Did it ever host a Super Bowl?
