    The Louisiana Tech women's soccer team was awarded the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Team Academic Award for the 2007-08 academic year.

    Congrats to the soccer team, keeping student in student-athlete.

    Years ago I coached a small private high school's, ahem, soccer team. It was a coed team, had 8 guys, 6 girls and we played against all boys' teams every game. Girls are simply not fast enough to compete against boys at that level.

    At the sports' banquet I had to give out MVP awards, etc for a team that finished 0-8. One of the parents of a football player made a snide remark. Until the academic awards' portion started. My group got together and chanted:

    "That's all right, that's okay, we have the highest GPA!"
