I read some comments on a thread about this DD-WRT firmware but still don't know what it does or the ins and outs of it. Everyone who commented on it was very high on it. I think I will go with the D-Link DIR-655 since it is on sale for $30 off this week all over town. Now I am researching the receiving devices that go on a laptop to receive the 802.11n. Looks like the DWA-652 has some good comments and circuit city has it for half the price of anyone else. Even though I will use the N later I want to be able to check out the hardware for N functionality shortly after I get it so I can return quickly if it doesn't live up to its claims.
