ULL actually finished at 6-6, fought through scores of injuries, scored well on K-State and almost beat Illinois. They had a similar 6-6 record as NIU, had one of the few 4 year 1,000 yd. rushers in NCAA history, a dynamo big-play Tebow-type QB and a conference commish who had a I-Bowl agreement from the summer to take a belch team if the Big 12 and SEC couldn't give em bowl eligible teams. Although not the best match for Tech, it would have been a better $$ game for the I=Bowl, whose auditors have stated "they may cease to exist." ULL took 20k to Tulane when Delhomme was there, so they travel well. NIU? Hmmm. We'll be lucky to get 3,000 from NIU and thats with them giving away 500 tickets to students and offering a $125 two-night trip via busride from the cold north. Their (ULL) offense and ours would have made for a better ESPN show as well. Therefore, I'm not so sure they DON'T have a reason to cry foul, just as we have done with the Undi-Bowl in the past. On a brighter side, at least we'll have another 100 peeps in the Chicago market who will now know who we are. While we would like to think the I-Bowl is a nice place for another WAC team to be, it won't be a sellout and it won't be one of the most watched games on the tube.
