This is the headline question Dan Hinxman asks in his article in the Reno Gazette-Journal today (12-17) and then discusses it with quotes from WAC Commissioner Karl Benson, Nevada football coach Chris Ault, Boise State president Bob Kustra, Fresno State football coach Pat Hill and Nevada basketball coach Mark Fox.

He calls Louisiana Tech, "a more natural fit geographically for C-USA" and a probable "strong candidate" should C-USA lose a team or teams, specifically Memphis, East Carolina and Central Florida, to a rumored expansion of the Big East Conference to 16 teams.

A lack of conference membership changes in recent years, doesn't mean there "isn't ongoing dialogue, mostly behind closed doors," Hinxman writes, and quotes Benson as anticipating changes in the 11 FBS leagues "in the next three to five years." And that would generate a snowball effect, he said. Such thinking is "perpetuated on blogs and chats," Hinxman writes, but neither Benson nor Benson nor Nevada athletic director Cary Groth anticipate this "in the near future."
