Boise State Drops 17-16 Decision in Poinsettia Bowl-WACSports.com

A new article has been posted on www.wacsports.com:

With Boise State's vaunted fastbreak offense brought to a slow crawl by TCU's aggressive, swarming defense, the chance for Boise's second unbeaten season in the last three seasons was placed at the feet of the Broncos' defense.

That whole second half sucked. Wish I would have stopped watching at halftime.

ESPN sucks! Using their studio guys to call this game was a bad mistake and they obviously didn't have the "A Crew" doing the production.

There were several plays that I wanted to see a replay on...NOT! One was the long pass Boise completed out of the endzone on 2nd down. There was a penalty at the end of that play that was never discussed or replayed. Boise should have had the ball on the 10.

TCU was a much better team last night. Boise got whipped in the trenches all night. It is amazing how much it hurts a team when they can't get away with holding on every play.

I feel like this actually is an opportunity for us, to be the only winning team in the WAC ... yes hawaii still plays but you know where we are.

A big W in the postseason column while everyone else loses is a big step towards showing our team is moving, in a more permanent fashion, to become a real power in this conference.

Yes, it may look bad for the conference, but in the end Tech is all that really matters.

Boise was overrated this year - no way they were a top 10 team.

Maybe not, but they came from being unranked to being where they were by winning games and establishing a "brand" of football over the past several years. I'd take it!:icon_wink:

That ESPN announcer, Mark May, is an irritating SOB. That SOB had it in for Boise St all night. May said some downright terrible things about Boise St and their program. He showed Boise NO respect at all.

I was hoping BSU would pull it out just to piss May off.

Yes, Mark May was pissing me off as well. He was big time dissing Boise's program, said BSU wouldn't have finished higher than 4th if they were in the Mountain West. He's such a goober!

May is your typical BCS hack. Whatever team is in the better conference, he will pull for them. His obvious disdain for the "little guy" is disgusting. He did go to Pitt, and I guess he has sour grapes over that absolute beatdown Utah put on them in the Fiesta Bowl.

Did you not watch the game? May heavily criticized Boise's football scheduling and said they had no business being mentioned as a possible BCS Bowl participant. He said they play in the "soft" WAC conference, and don't try to schedule tough BCS teams OOC like Fresno State does. He further said that Boise would have a hard time competing week-to-week in a better conference such as the MWC, and "would likely finish in the middle of the pack". He also said that at thier level of play, Boise would be a bottom feeder in the PAC 10.

There were a couple of times when Lou Holtz finally had to defend Boise St. When Mays was criticizing Boise for (I'm paraphrasing) "not scheduling USC, (and he named some other schools) and some of the other top programs", Holtz had to step in and tell him that some of those schools don't want to risk playing --and losing-- to Boise, so scheduling them is difficult.

It just went on, and on, and on.

This was a dissapointing game. Fun to watch. Ian johnson w. the laydown throwback. Very nice... Execution. Throwback passes. Boise started out nice, just couldn't finish it. I still think that TCU played over their head, and BS was the more talented team even though BS lost. Now, LET BRING ON THE DAWGS!

TCU gave the rest of us a BLUEPRINT on how to defend the Boise State multi-prong attack. It begins & ends with two LOCK-DOWN corners who can PRESS COVER all over the field. This releases the remaining nine on defense to use combo cover on the slot receivers & tight ends as well as offer strong support on the run game. TCU also showed the rest of us that we can get to the Boise State QB using only the front four. Their TWISTS, GAP RUSH, & generally outstanding TECHNIQUE on rushing the QB was fun to watch. Actually, I thought TCU was clearly the better football team last night & should have won the game by 3 TD's. TCU was one of the few football teams in 2008 that got to Sam Bradford from Oklahoma consitently & put a great deal of pressure on him. Had that game been played at a neutral site, TCU would have made it very, very close. You really had to be impressed with the TOUGHNESS & TACKLING of TCU.
