    Thumbs Down ESPN/SportsCenter

I watched the "edited for time" replay of the game at 2:00 am when i got back home from a big casino breakfast after the game and got up extra early to catch highlights on sportscenter. No mention of Tech or the independence bowl for that matter on any of this morning's sportscenters. I know that three NFL coaches got canned and tony romo slipped in the shower, but no mention of the only D1 football game played the previous day? We did get a highlight on the pizzabowl pregame show (Livas return) but that was it on ESPN today.

I was very dissapointed in this. Not a mention of the win. Or a clip of Livas running the kickoff back. That should have at least made it.

Agreed. They couldn't spare 30 seconds with 13 dedicated to SNLivas's KO score.

It was obvious that ESPN hated this game from day one. They dictated who the IBowl would take vs. Tech, had a goofball writer who placed it last in pecking order, sent the worst possible crew to do the game, gave the game ZERO promotion, then wrapped up with playbacks on ESPNU and no real coverage. I hate these Yankee sobs.

    Thumbs Up Re: ESPN/SportsCenter

I havn't really noticed much post game coverage of any of the bowls played so far. Notre Dame got a little, but that only lasted for one sports center show. We're lucky that the non-BCS bowls are nationally televised at all. Lots of people that I know in south Louisiana watched the I-Bowl Sunday night on ESPN. I've gotten lots of comments about the "good crowd" at the game (they all know I'm a Die Hard TECH Fan). This weekend can only help us in recruiting as well as in the growing seperation between us and the other other non-BCS schools in our state.

And no replay on ESPN360 which seems REALLY odd considering all the minor sports crap they have on there.

There is a replay on 360!

I thought so too, then I searched under the 28/12 (date), they didnt put it under the regular football thing... idk why.

But it is there, just search by the date!

look for espn coverage of non-bcs football to take a drastic dive in the coming years now that they have purchased the rights to the bcs bowls.

Well, what the hell are they going to program during these first weeks of the bowl season?

Production trucks and its accompanying personnel, along with on-air talent is out there around the country to be used.

    Re: ESPN/SportsCenter

I taped the original ESPN broadcast and watched it Monday night. Other than Pam Ward pronouncing every word like she was an English teacher (Louise..e..anna Tech), I thought the whole production was well done.

In fact, the announcers' ability to keep saying interesting things for the last of the 3rd and all of the 4th with no scoring was pretty amazing in my opinion.

I also liked the promotion for S'port with Kix Brooks, Brando, et al, and the Tech promotion was much better than past ones.

Got home a little after 1:00am and saw the replay was coming on ESPN at 2:00. I knew there was no way I could stay awake, so I switched back and forth between ESPN and ESPN news. Nothing but NFL and Romo incident from 1:00 to 1:30. I watched the coming stories listing they always have on the right side of the screen and never saw anything about the Indy Bowl that was about to be shown.

    Re: ESPN/SportsCenter

i know it was the only game of the night ... but come on, it was 7-5 vs. 6-6. it's not like this game gets any mention on a regular football day. i wish they could have done something, but it was the last week of the nfl season with so many playoff games being determined.

they'll continue to broadcast those games, but as far as "coverage" and promotion... I think this will become the norm. now, if it was two bcs conference schools in the indy bowl, i think it would have been promoted heavily and shown on sportscenter. mark mays and lou diamond phillips holtz would have talked about it ad naseum.
