BCS Update - Gator ball w/less than 2 minutes left & 24-14 their way. Looks like the National title stays in the SEC for the third straight year.

Yes, the calls in the first half were suspect. Yes, Criner is a really good player. Just wanted to get those things out of the way since those two things will surely be the "reasons" for some that we lost.
This team does not play smart bball. Is it the players? Is it the coaching? Is it both? Blown out by Nevada.
5 mins left in the game and Nevada has 17 steals already.
Poor rebounding. Poor shooting. Poor free throws. And yes, MORE than an ounce of quit. I heard more than once "the Techsters are just standing around."
Discipline. Technique. Consistency. Three strikes, we're out.
Yes, it got closer at the end, but I still consider this a blowout. The Techsters do too little too late. Lack of direction by Long. Poor showing.

The announcers said that the Techsters were standing around ALOT!! Maybe they're winded playing in thinner air??

Final score was Nevada 64-57. Sure sounded like the players almost quit during the final 2 minutes or were poorly coached. Bendolph made a 3 & cut the lead to 9 but the Techsters didn't go for an immediate foul & let LOTS of time run off the clock. What's up with that???
I'll check out the final stats in the morning but last I heard was that we shot around 39% on FG's & 31% on FT's ( not sure about 3's ). Announcer said we lost it at the line ( offensively ) & on the defensive boards ( LOTS of easy putback points for Nevada ).
I'll give the Ladies this much. Every time that they got down by double figures they made a run to get it back close. Still, we can't shoot FT's to save our lives!! I'm listening to CL & I almost feel sorry for him. His voice shows the strain & frustration due to our shooting woes.

I did have a high hope for this team a little over a month ago but it seems we didn't get improved - we're playing worse than a month ago. When you are out- rebounded by other team by that much - it means you doesn't go after the ball, doesn't care about it.

Final stats are really a lot more even than the game made it seem ( other than FT's & rebounds ).
FG% - 39.7 & Nevada 37.1%
FT% - 38.9% & Nevada 61.5%
3 Pts - 30.8% & Nevada 20.0%
Rebounds - 36 & Nevada 49
TO's - Even @ 23 each
The team sounded lethargic & somewhat confused ( stood around alot, according to the announcer ). Not sure if that's the travel or the altitude. Dowdell's knee was clearly bothering her but she & AJ scored 11 points each ( both shot right @50% ) & Whitney led us w/14 points on 33% shooting.
Keisha Warren scored 7 points off the bench, also. Wysinger played 17 minutes & took down 6 rebounds & 2 points but CL said she was still quite a ways away from her old self.
I've asked this before but why shouldn't we expect a little more scoring out of Sidney Stewart? She's only averaging 5.8 ppg ( on 34% shooting ) & scored only 2 points last night. Granted that our offense is designed for Dowdell & AJ but if Sidney would score a little more from the outside it would open up the paint.
As CL himself said - we MUST win against Utah tomorrow. Can't start conference play @ 0-2 & there's not much time to rest between these 2 games.
