I can't believe this is even a story. Let me explain to you how this works....elected officials don't pay taxes, that is what we are for. We make the money and they give the money away, why is that so hard to understand. Jeez people, when you get elected that is one of the perks...along with the bestest hookers. I learned this stuff in middle school, read a book for Pete's sake

And the Dems complained about the lack of vetting for Palin. This is getting ridiculous.

This shit is really bringing me closer to wanting full-on, possibly violent revolution in this country. This type of crap mixed with the insane socialism taking over is finally just too damn much for me. I'm going to have to step out of politics for a few days so that I don't go nuts. I refuse to become the USSR or Nazi Germany, especially led by these thieves!

lol, but the last 8 years were fine and dandy? Man, when republicans dont get their way, they turn into such huge babies. Just grab a bottle of warm milk and take a nap with your ba-ba, and you'll be fine.

Maybe you should give pointers since you've become a professional at being a whining, crying, limpwristed Nancy-boy

    Growing list of 'honest mistakes'

    http://www.rep-am.com/articles/2009/...ion/395479.txt

What does it take to disqualify Democrats from public service? Suborning forgery? Sen. Joseph Crisco, D-Woodbridge, did it, but was neither arrested nor sanctioned by his colleagues. Sorry, honest mistake, he said.

Divert campaign money multiple times to pay personal expenses? Sen. Thomas Gaffey, D-Meriden, did it, but has not been censured by his colleagues, which was the punishment Congress imposed in 1967 after Sen. Christopher Dodd's father got caught doing it. Sorry, honest mistakes, Sen. Gaffey said.

Tax evasion? It wasn't enough to derail Timothy Geithner's appointment to run the Treasury Department, including the Internal Revenue Service. Didn't pay $43,000 in federal taxes? Sorry, honest mistake, he said.

It wasn't enough to end Al Franken's run for the U.S. Senate in Minnesota. Didn't pay $70,000 in taxes and penalties in 17 states and $25,000 in workers' compensation insurance to New York? Sorry, honest mistakes, he said.

It wasn't enough to cost Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., chairmanship of the House tax-writing committee, let alone his seat in Congress. Didn't declare tens of thousands in rental income from his Caribbean villa, tens of thousands in profit from the sale of his Florida condo and more than $10,000 in fees he saved by parking his vintage Mercedes in a congressional garage? Sorry, honest mistakes, said the man who helped write the tax code.

Since his colleagues didn't get too worked up over those crimes, they are unlikely to care that he and five other Democratic representatives took a three-night Caribbean junket paid for in part by Citigroup after they voted for the $700 billion TARP, which gave Citigroup $45 billion. More honest mistakes?

And tax evasion apparently won't keep former Sen. Thomas Daschle from becoming secretary of Health and Human Services. Mr. Daschle failed to report income and overstated charitable contribution, but paid $140,000 in back taxes and interest (no penalties) after he learned he was on the short list for an Obama Cabinet job. Sorry, honest mistake, he said.

After 26 years in Congress, including 10 as the top tax-and-spend Democratic senator, Mr. Daschle says he was unaware he had to pay taxes on consulting fees and the value of the free car and driver provided to him by a Democratic businessman. Try that line with your IRS auditor and see how far it gets you.

The saddest part? These, along with Sen. Dodd's sweetheart mortgages, are merely the most blatant violations of the public trust. Makes you wonder how many other politicians are making honest mistakes.

DB3 How does this relate to republicans not getting their way? This is the 4th person Obama wanted to put in his cabinet that has had issues for not paying taxes. I think it is getting funny at this point personally. I do believe it is somewhat ironic since 4 cabinet appointees did pay portions of taxes they owe, yet Joe Biden says it is patriotic to pay taxes, and we should all do it. A bit hypocritical don't you think?

    Yes, it is.

But why does 4 people not paying 10% of the taxes they were supposed to make ktulu want to violently revolt against the government, whereas 8 years of a "small-government conservative" cutting taxes for the wealthy, increasing bureaucracy, waging two wars, increasing spending, cutting back on science/technology/health/education, sending the deficit into unheard of territory, restricting civil liberties, making it easier for corporations to pollute, relaxing regulation on several industries, appointing unqualified friends to important govt positions is all fine and dandy?

"What? that guy didnt claim a car and driver on his taxes??? Where's my gun???"

"Oh, W sent in a budget that will add another $2 trillion to our deficit... yeah, thats cool"

These two "bailout stimulus packages" are sending us way more into debt than just normal spending GWB did. BTW, I personally didn't agree with the wholesale spending he did while in office either. What civil liberties have been restricted? What have you personally been unable to do under GWB, that you could not do before, or since? If you are talking about the wiretapping etc. Obama has had the "secret courts" already uphold that they were legal and justified.
