I thought we would get a bruiser like Deuce. Fred is no bruiser, he does not even carry the ball in goal line situations for fear of getting hurt, witnessed by his horrid TD totals over the last few years. He did have a good year in 07, but 08 was disappointing. I am afraid he is done.

Yeah I agree that we have to win now...but RB is the only position where rookies really fly out of the gate and produce. Generally there are a handful of good backs in every draft than can step in and be better than Fred Taylor is right now.
Mike Bell was pretty impressive in the few carries he got at the end of the season...but I wouldn't mind at all the Saints using a 4th round pick to get a RB...a lot of really good RBs can be found deep in the draft...
Pierre Thomas, Reggie Bush and signing Deuce a little cheaper is fine with me.
Is what will probably happen. That is unless he is ready to retire.
Looks like every avenue has been discussed an Deuce will not be back with the saints, yes even for cheaper.
This was a wise move for the Saints to make. He is paid too much to be a part time RB. He plays hard but the guy is and always has been an injury waiting to happen. I agree signing him on the cheap would be a good move as long as they get one guy that they can consistently rely on.
