I was at Reliant stadium this weekend and I noticed that some of the parking lots had a grass surface. Upon closer inspection of these lots, I noticed that the grass and dirt were held in place by a sort of grid placement of some pipe-like structure. Apparently, this structure allows cars to park and drive over the grass, without making ruts or disturbing the surface.
I was thinking that such a surface would be ideal at JAS, due to the fact that many tailgate on the parking lot. The concrete surface gets mighty hot in the early part of the season. Having a grass surface should cool things down and make the parking lot a better place for tailgating.
Thoughts?
