I'm all for geographic conferences (http://www.latechbbb.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30573) but I think the problem there is that not all conferences are equal. BC is a better fit for the "Big" East (and there has been plenty of media whining about it) but they chose (and will continue to choose) the ACC because of the $. As our SB friends like to point out, Tech fits better geographically with them - but the WAC is better for us because it is a better conference (in terms of money, prestige, bowl ties, exposure, on-field football, NCAA credits, etc).
The same is true for TCU and the MWC vs. the CUSA. For that matter, I get the idea that many Houston fans would rather be in the MWC, too.
This also works the other way. UNT is right in the middle of the Big 12, but if a team leaves they won't be the first choice to replace them.
Besides, since when has college football chosen the logical or fan-friendly approach over money and image?

His theory only applied to the mid-majors. I don't think he included the Belch teams either.
I would like to be linked conference wise to a group of teams that was either SWC or SEC at one time. That means they usually are football oriented and would bring a little tradition to JA on Saturday nights.
