Yup I know, but they shouldn't use "LA Tech"
Did some digging around, I guess Louisiana Technical College can use LA Tech if they wanted...

This is the one that gets me. I've gotten to that site a couple of times thinking I going to a La Tech entity.
Hey it's ok that you went to LA Technical college for a while; sometimes you do what you have to do. But I wouldn't go around telling people you actually attended LSU.
I got a couple of calls asking about the shooting at Tech after that.

Some of those are just stupid. Why is LA Tech okay, but La Tech isn't? Sheesh.

Do not use the term "first annual." An event cannot be described as
annual until it has been held in at least two successive years.
LA Tech is only ok in sports according to the thing... but this is pretty ridiculous as everyone I know calls it La Tech
LA stands for Louisiana.
La stands for "the" (in Spanish).
It's also good grammar or whatever you want to call it that when abbreviating or naming something, it is capitalized...
something like that...
It's about branding, not about mailing a letter. Besides, if good grammar were of primary concern, our official name would not include an unpunctuated abbreviation.
I, for one, LIKE the "La" Tech thing, as it means "the" in both French and Spanish, subtly suggesting that we are THE Tech.
Not every abbreviation is punctuated, especially states.
I'm in the "don't like it" camp...

All state abbreviations ARE punctuated, when used properly.
Postal two-letter designations for states are not, however.:icon_wink:

Bah, I'm just out of my 20s and I remember being told in school that state abbreviations were punctuated. L.A., T.X., etc...
...and I remember specifically when I was 10 years old, my dad had ordered me a football from some sales club he sold for, and the moron at the post office where it was shipped saw Winnfield, L.A. and thought it was Los Angeles...Not kidding, it went out to L.A. even with Winnfield's zip code on the package.
Moral of the story is that there are some people out there that might think it is Los Angeles Tech University located in Ruston, Los Angeles...
