No, my wife doesn't want "junk" like that cluttering up the house so I probably threw it away the night of the concert. :bigcry: My wife did give in and allow the clutter of my small baseball memorabilia collection. I still have my ticket stub from seeing Nolan Ryan's 5th no-hitter and I have a baseball from all MLB teams I've seen.

    Payne Stewart
    Reggie White

I've also got to mention the 2 shuttle disasters as very surprising.
Wait, you didn't see Belushi's coming? That was before my time (well, I was 3), but I just finished a book about the history of SNL and it sure seems like that one might have been less unexpected than the others on your list.

On the other hand, I don't think there was as much published about celebs private lives back then. And the other cast members in that book all said "we didn't know how bad drugs were back then." So maybe it was a surprise.

When Farley went pretty much down the same road, a lot of his friends said they knew exactly what the call was about when people tried to break the news to them.

I learned about Belushi's lifestyle after his death. It may have been public knowledge before he died but I don't follow celebrity gossip.

My primary source of entertainment news and celebrity gossip has become BB&B. I don't watch a lot of TV except for baseball (all the time), men's college basketball, and politics. I can't tell you much about any celebrities over the past 20 years. I guess I've become an old fogie - but I'm loving it.

I'm at heartless jerk I guess.

    Hit hard:

    Skynyrd

Not hit as much as shocked:

Entwistle (thought he was the sane one of the group)
    Bonham

I agree with JFord, celebrity deaths don't affect me much. Although I did have some surprisingly strong feelings when Reagan passed...
