Obama, Chavez, and the Castro Twins

Has anyone noticed that our President has sided with Socialist dictators, Hugo Chavez, Fidel and Raul "The Fool" Castro, Daniel Ortega, and Evo Morales on the situation in Honduras.

A close ally of all these supposed defenders of democracy, Manuel Zelaya was arrested and thrown out of his country for committing over 20 crimes against the country's constitution and attempting to make himself dictator for life. On top of that he is being investigated by interpol and the DEA for helping Chavez smuggle tons of cocaine into the US.

Our president can't wait to get this dope dealing thug back into power in Honduras, can somebody explain that to me?

Easy question--Obama is a socialist, and birds of a feather flock together.

Obama just wants to be friends with all those guys who are important central/south american figures. You sure don't want them cutting off our drug supply. That would be disastrous.

Been discussed before. Zelaya needs to be brought back and formally tried, rather than thrown out military coup style. I dont know the prez's reasons, but those are mine. Setting a bad precedent if you allow this to stand.

    Where was this discussed before?

This was not a military coup. In a military coup, the military acts on it's own to take over the government. Hence the term "military" coup. In this instance the Congress of Honduras voted to have him removed. Then the Supreme Court of Honduras issued a court order to the military to remove him. It would not have made since to use the police force in the capital considering Zelaya's brother was the chief of police and would have probably tipped him off. The same chief of police who is now one of the most wanted men in Honduras for stealing the policeman's pension fund on his way out of the country.

Ok, so Congress stepped up their power. Either way, a formal hearing is in order, even though it seems like a formality. Could you imagine our Congress just up and ousting a president? There needs to be a formal hearing at least.

If our President had allied himself with known socialist dictators and was on the verge of changing the constitution to allow himself to be dictator for life, I don't think anybody would have a problem with it.

That's not necessarily true. But I wasn't calling it a military coup, I was calling it a coup.

There are procedures in place to make sure that we dont fly off the handle and let Congress do what they want to do. Sure, it seems cut and dry in this situation, but what about the next time it gets a little murkier and Congress still extends their power, and it keeps going on from there. Before you know it, you have made it very easy for Congress to oust a president on any terms they feel like without much discussion.

Everyone seems to be forgetting that the Honduran Supreme Court AND the Honduran Congress supported the president's ouster. This wasn't a power grab by any one branch of government.

There's a lot being neglected with this. Not one branch, but by the government. However, the SC is who ordered the president's removal, not the Congress. They supported after the fact.

    It's a no win argument.
