When will the school 30 miles east of Ruston will drop down to FCS and join the Southland?
Centenary just killed their athletic program and alumni giving....
Bad, bad decision....

WOW! This was a really stupid move. I guess they will move into the same conference (American Southwest I believe) as ETBU, UTTyler, Louisiana College, UTDallas, Hardin Simmons, Mississippi College etc.... It's spread over 5 states but is a pretty good conference for DIII schools. A few of these are looking at moving up actually.
Wow. Anybody know the current status of UNO? Last I heard the Hornets owner was gonna bail them out.
Dwayne, I think ULM is more in the balance then you're giving it credit for. What happens with the budgeting process over the next 2 - 3 years will tell the tale on ULM. If things stay tight, I think its 50/50 ULM may go FCS. Not saying its smart or the right thing, but without a deeper commitment from their admin, ULM hangs in the balance. ULL on the other hand isn't going anywhere (not that anyone expects otherwise).
Centenary's decision is a mistake, but the die is cast. I give Andy Shehee credit for pushing to remain D1; too bad he and his allies couldn't muster enough support to win the vote.
Will LSUS make a play to move up now if there's a chance?
With an enrollment of a few hundred, why was Nary ever D1 in the first place? Byrd High across the street is 4x the size
Centenary needs to get in the conference with Hendrix here in Conway, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Hendrix just recently spent several million upgrading their facilities.
The SCAC is currently comprised of Austin College of Sherman, Texas; Birmingham-Southern College of Birmingham, Alabama; Centre College of Danville, Kentucky; Colorado College of Colorado Springs, Colorado; DePauw University of Greencastle, Indiana; Hendrix College of Conway, Arkansas; Millsaps College of Jackson, Mississippi; Oglethorpe University of Atlanta, Georgia; Rhodes College of Memphis, Tennessee; The University of the South of Sewanee, Tennessee; Southwestern University of Georgetown, Texas; and Trinity University of San Antonio, Texas. The SCAC office is located in suburban Atlanta, Georgia.

Centenary is the reason Huey P Long made his famous statement about his beloved Tigers never playing a football game in North LA as long as he was alive -
Centenary had an excellent athletic tradition from the 30's through the early 80's....
They OWNED us in men's basketball all the way into the 80's -
