Thumbs Up Hornets get Emeka Okafor

Great trade for the Hornets as they ditch often injured Chandler for the better player by stats and upside (cash as well). YES!!!!

    Okafor For Chandler?

The Bobcats and Hornets are discussing a swap of bigs that would send Tyson Chandler to Charlotte for Emeka Okafor, according to NBA front-office sources. Marc Stein »Rumors Busy summer

Hasn't happenned yet. I think this would be good for N.O. though. Okafor has more upside offensively. Both bang on the boards well. Then the Hornets need to work on the 2 and 3. I don't think Detroit has plans to ship him out but a player like Prince would fit in perfectly for N.O. @ SF. He can hit 3's but really likes to "D-Up"

I sure hope they can pull this trade off. Personally I think the Bobcats are stupid to pull this trade. I think we are ok at the 2 and 3 as the Hornets are building depth already at these spots. Another big (PF) that can score as well would be a good compliment to David West and Okafor. Their draft supported the guards fairly well. Now we need another FA pickup to
support our frontcourt that can score and not just a rebounding specialist. Good subs/men off the bench is our #1 need.

Agreed. Both Collison and Thornton should be solid backups this year. Paul, Rasual, West, Okafor, and Peja is a solid starting 5, but as stated, depth is much needed down low. Having someone like Prince start at the 3 and having Peja come off the bench would definitely be an upgrade. I like the Okafor trade as well.

I think it's a done deal now Tyler. Good trade for N.O.

I don't agree about the 2's and 3's though. Those guys are all career backups or too old. (Peja, Rasual, Daniels, Posey, Peterson) The Hornets need some punch from that position.

Paul, Okafur, and West are a very nice base to build around though. They weren't as down as they appeared to be last year. The injuries just took there toll on them. I think the Hornets should be stronger this year if Okafur stays healthy.
