Why America's Economy Fell Off The Cliff

    Author Unknown
    ------

John Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN ) for 6 am.

While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA ) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG )

He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRILANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE )and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA)

After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet(MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO ) to see how much he could spend today.

After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN ) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA ) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY ) filled it with GAS (from Saudi Arabia ) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB.

At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his Computer (made in MALAYSIA ),John decided to relax for a while.

He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL ),poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE ) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA ), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in AMERICA

And now he’s hoping he can get help from a President MADE IN KENYA.

That's clever. I think that is why it will be hard to recover... we don't make anything! But the economy collapsed because the government (liberals) "felt" that poor people had a right to own a home.

Where is the right to homeownership spelled out in the constitution. Nobody has the "right" to own a home.

Johnny, you beat me to it. But everyone has an opportunity to go after what they can afford.

Of course the whole housing disaster occurred because this was ignored by both lenders and buyers...

I believe the Declaration of Independence (which is one of our founding documents) said the men had the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Making home ownership
    accessible
is what government should be doing. It should be done in a responsible way however.

Guiss and Johnny, have you forgotten that engaging Tea in any discussion will get you lost in the circular nonsensical logic of a severe left-winger, who I must agree is completely ignorant or just out to get a response from each post on any political topic. Don't waste the effort trying to convince someone about rights and opportunities. When Tea gives his whole paycheck, house, car, and all other possessions to the poor and still has everything HE needs to survive I will join him in his fight for the poor. Until then, I will fight for lower taxes and smaller government so I can support my family, church, other CHARITY, and my future(which could be in jeopardy as we speak because of people who think like Tea does).

This will especially help make the prices on large displacement V8s and 4wds come down, too.

Sounds to me like youre anti-capitalism... Why else would you whine about buying products that are cheaper due to the free market?

And, after bitching about capitalism working, you bash the president, who is the ONE GUY who is trying to pass legislation to keep jobs IN AMERICA.

Does this make sense to anyone else????

I've always thought that joke was an effective criticism of the capitalist worker who valued cheap goods to the extent of undermining their own job. It says more about the American worker than it does the President, for sure.

Re: Why America's Economy Fell Off The Cliff

Unions, minimum wage increases, and other government related or government mandated measures imposed on employers are the main reason we lost manufacturing jobs.

We priced ourselves out of the market and we're upset about it.

Globalization of the economy is inevitable....we need to work smarter to compete. If we artificially price ourselves out of menial manufacturing jobs, then those workers need to be trained and do something else...maybe more high tech.
