    Canada's Healthcare System Imploding

Now will you Socialist/Dems on here shut the heck up and let the American people speak about what they want out of their health care in our country! Ironically, it's called choice. And we choose private healthcare and we do not to want to pay for illegals as well as those that chose not to work or purchase health care. And Americans also want/choose tort reform which will solve a ton of these "problems" in our system. PERIOD!!!

Dang, the honesty in that article by Canada's top Dr. is refreshing! She doesn't care who she pisses off in her country. And she sure doesn't care about the future votes she'll get or not like the DEMS on this issue.

I saw this on Drudge this morning. I'm glad they're finally speaking up and telling the world the truth!!! I just hope our lawmakers read this and then make a decision of what to do!

Canada has all sorts of problems. No copays or deductibles for those who cannot "afford" it. 1/5th the MRI's per 100 people and 1/3rd the CTs per 1000 people in the US. Tons of taxes to help support this bad systme (federal government income tax, sales tax and income taxes to provinces who run the healthcare). Long waiting lists for anything that could be remotely considered elective surgery and sometimes for critical surgeries. Long waiting lists. They do control costs, though. I will give them that, but as in most things that cost money, you get what you pay for. Right now, Canadians are getting pretty crappy healthcare as a whole.

they have started to let private insurers and clinics come in, but how many people in Canada have the disposable income to afford it? Half of Canada's welfare expenditures are for healthcare.

    Re: Canada's Healthcare System Imploding

Let's see what the chairman of the House Republican Health Care Solutions Group has to say about Canada's healthcare:
"I'm 59," Mr. Blunt said last week during a meeting with Post-Dispatch reporters and editors. "In either Canada or Great Britain, if I broke my hip, I couldn't get it replaced."
    Oops...
At least 63 percent of hip replacements performed in Canada last year and two-thirds of those done in England were on patients age 65 or older. More than 1,200 in Canada were done on people older than 85.
But what about his plan for America, and how we dont need a Canadian style system?
Mr. Blunt was asked how long an uninsured American would wait for a hip replacement.
"If they go to the emergency room, I think they can get that done," he said.
    oops...
Emergency rooms don't do hip replacements, which require both hospital care and weeks of rehabilitation. They do emergency surgery, necessary to save a life.
Huh... maybe they could do hip replacements if there werent so many illegal immigrants clogging up our ERs getting free healthcare, right?
In the same interview, Mr. Blunt minimized the number of people without health insurance in part by maximizing the number who are illegal immigrants.
"Ten to 12 million of them are in the country illegally. Everyone sort of agrees on that," Mr. Blunt said.
    ..oops
In fact, the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation puts the number of uninsured who are immigrants both legal and illegal at about 9 million.
Man, you guys sure are full of credibility on this issue, huh?

    Re: Canada's Healthcare System Imploding

The thread is about the FACT that the head of the Canadian health care system says that system is basically insolvent. What any US senator thinks he might know about the situation is irrelevant to this thread. The canadian national health service is FAILING. Info straight from the horses mouth. Why do we need to consult another source that almost certainly does not have as intimate a knowledge of the situation?

I agree it would be nice if all of our congressmen (R and D) were more educated on the issue before they ran their mouths, though....
