Oh, I get it. So we have to find where the majority of the last 5 Presidents were treated this way for you to find it acceptable. The fact that you only know about the last President being treated this way, makes it unacceptable that this President is treated this way. In other words, your fine with the last President Bush being compared to Hitler and disrespected because it's only one President out of the other non-Obamas. But it's not right to disrespect Obama. The way you state it, more past Presidents have to have been treated this way for it to be acceptable to treat Obama this way. Since people have only proved that it was the last President Bush, we lose in our point? Ridiculous argument.

Paragraph 3 explains the point of the post sir. Bush #2 did get a good share of this type of criticism when he was around, but 2 wrongs don't make it acceptable in my book. If you can find credible quotes saying that Reagan, Bush #1 and Clinton got this treatment too, then you win.

1) What is "this treatment"?
2) What is a credible quote?

Is it respectful that for three years of his Presidency, Bill Clinton went to the Oral Office? Or is it respectful that 9 years after his presidency he is the butt of more jokes than the current President on late night TV just because he got a blow from a fat chick? Is it respectful that Reagan was depicted in soiled adult diapers? For goodness sake, there were *newspapers* that printed a drawing of Abraham Lincoln participating in "jungle love" with a male slave.

The most credible quote was posted by Guisslapp. A still-serving member of Congress said what Bush had done was worse than the holocaust. That IS the counter-example to what you have said. President G. W. Bush is also the most relevant example since most of this is being said at the FRINGE which in the last 10 years has been given it's own publishing platform (the Net) giving it significantly more exposure.

I understand what you are saying. If I met Obama, I would call him Mr. President. I would shake his hand and have a beer with him. However, what is the point of this post? It's obvious that people are disrespecting Obama, but disrespecting a President is historically the norm. If you think people shouldn't do that, then OK... do you want a cookie for that?
