“This country is finished,” said one resident, Jamil Jaber, 45, whose five-room home behind the Foreign Ministry had been flattened, crushing a 4-month-old infant. “It’s just robbery and killing.” He cursed the United States and former President George W. Bush.

Well, first, was this Mr. Jaber concerned when Saddam was murdering thousands of Kurds and Shiites with poison gas (WMDs, ya know!) and air assaults? Probably not.

Secondly, GWB is gone....unless that was him sneaking around the corner just before the latest violence. No, it was Mack the Knife!

Change has come to Iraq, Mr. Jaber, be joyful. These are happy times. Let's not quibble about who killed who....

To be sure, terrorist are not afraid of Mr. Naive Obama (who's afraid to even use the words "War on terror" and terrorist). And so things will start to slip with Obama in charge. He's probably micro-managing our war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan much like LBJ and the DEMS/LIBS in Nam.

I thought Obama was elected to change all this?

Nope, just to get us the freaking out. The sooner, the better. The Iraqis can sort it for themselves.

I'm sure this is GWB's and the Republican's fault.

He was probably a little upset about his grandson getting crushed.

    Ya think?

Still, unless it was George Bush that set off the bomb that brought the house down that crushed his grandson....I don't get the connection.

Obama is giving us more of the same in Iraq and Afghanistan - so where's the change? Bush was already outlining troop reductions and such. Maybe the military commanders knew what they were talking about or something.

He's been in office 7 months. You mean he couldn't get all of our troops home in that time? If he really wanted to be out of the Middle East, he would be.

    By now, yeah.

I asked my bro-in-law who's a logistic consultant for the Army (retired Lt Col, Armor) back in November, after the election, how fast could every US soldier be out of Iraq? He said, if I was talking about some getting as far as our bases in Kuwait, then by Christmas. And out of the gulf region totally a few months after that. Well, that means if a concerted effort was made to get us out of Iraq, no more than about 4 months were needed from the conception of the idea to total withdrawal.

Seems to me if Obama wanted us out of Iraq, he could have started making plans, meeting with the military leaders, and planning the withdrawal, which could have begun, ON HIS ORDER, within minutes of his being sworn in as POTUS on January 20, 2009.

So.....why do we still have troops in Iraq?

Now, I understand, and am fine with, that our troops have been pulled back, away from major cities and sites of the worst violence. This has mostly kept our soldiers from becoming casualties to road-side bombs, etc... That's a good thing. But, fact is, they are still on Iraqi soil.

I fear we have won the war....but will now lose the peace.

    Thanks, Barry.

I would certainly hope that BHO doesn't do any 'planning', but leaves all of that up to the Military leaders!!! I don't want him 'planning' anything!!!

This is for sure! It doesn't look good for the Iraqis to be able to keep the peace once we leave the area.

DEMS/LIBS never did know how to win a war or even keep/uphold a victory. Then again, the left probably wants to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory satisfying their hatred of Bush in their eyes.
