A reasonable proposal for health care reform

Remove the legal obstacles that slow the creation of high-deductible health insurance plans and health savings accounts (HSAs).

Equalize the tax laws so that employer-provided health insurance and individually owned health insurance have the same tax benefits.

Repeal all state laws which prevent insurance companies from competing across state lines.

Repeal government mandates regarding what insurance companies must cover.

Enact tort reform to end the ruinous lawsuits that force doctors to pay insurance costs of hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.

Make costs transparent so that consumers understand what health-care treatments cost.

    Enact Medicare reform.

Revise tax forms to make it easier for individuals to make a voluntary, tax-deductible donation to help the millions of people who have no insurance and aren't covered by Medicare,

Wouldn't this have the effect of the insurance companies covering LESS?

They're in the business to make a profit. Example. The head of UHC, earns $102,000 an hour. If they can cover less, they won't have to pay as much, and more money in this guy's pocket.

Is it your assertion that mandating that certain things be covered raises premiums?

the market, not government mandate (based on lobbyist spend), would determine what would, would not be covered.

Let the consumer decide if they want an expensive, all-inclusive plan or one that doesn't cover everything but costs less.

The companies still make their 3%; the customer has the option of paying considerably less.

    It's not rocket science.

Nice work, looks to me like that pretty much covers it.
