This is outrageous. There should be mass absenteeism of record proportions on Sept. 8. All this just three days prior to defiling the memory of all those lost on sept. 11 by declaring it a "work" day...aka "day of service".

I think all Lincoln Parish schools are out on those days because Hellcrest is out also. I think they're teacher in service days or something like that. I wish Bush had done this and all the Presidents the past 20 years or so. Although I don't agree with President Obama on many things, I think service to our country and what all that entails has been lost at some point along the way and needs to be reintroduced especially having it involve the correct teaching of the Constitution.
How in the world could obama teach anyone about the Constitution- he is doing everything he can to circumvent and ignore it. My children do not go to public school, but if they are planning on being included at our school my children will not be there.
They should start the kids with a lesson how John Marshall rewrote the Constitution in Marbury v. Madison, and in doing, so gave the Supreme Court the ultimate power to rewrite the Constitution whenever they so choose.

I didn't actually mean Obama to teach the Constitution. I agree with you that he would be the last person I'd have teaching on that. I started to go back and clarify that, but hoped people would understand I meant to teach the kids in general like we were taught when I was younger.
I'm curious how this would be different than a teacher creating an assignment where they are to watch the news, or a movie, or something, one night, and do a report on it following certain criteria, like answering certain questions or making certain points???
