Coulter on target with healthcare criticism...

She's been running a series on this and I like this one in particular, as I echoed a similar idea on healthcare reform on this board:

    http://www.anncoulter.com/

The only reason you can't keep -- or often obtain -- health insurance if you move or lose your job now is because of ... government intrusion into the free market.
Federal tax incentives have created a world in which the vast majority of people get health insurance through their employers. Then to really screw ordinary Americans, the tax code actually punishes people who don't get their health insurance through an employer by denying individuals the tax deduction for health insurance that their employers get.
And her third point, #14 in her series, raises an important question.

Dems wail and scream about the illegal alien care and abortions. They say that nowhere in the bill does it provide for those. However, they fought tooth and nail to exclude those specific amendments to the bill. If you don't want these items covered in the bill and say publicly that the bill is not intended for these purposes...why not put it in writing?

Sec 246 is "no subsidy for illegals". It has nothing to do with the expanded Medicaid coverage that does provide for illegals. They can also participate in the public option (if there is one) or they would benefit from purchasing through the exchange.

The final bill will not provide any coverage for any illegals.

Need to change the policy or ER visits.

Judge Napolitano said it would be unconstitutional to offer universal health care and not provide it to illegals. He said Obama is a Constitutional lawyer and he is probably aware of this.

Thats what is funniest about the whole thing...

"I'm against the bill because I dont want to pay for illegals to have insurance" (except if the bill passes, you wont be paying for insurance for illegals)

And yet, the Republican plan forces us all to pay for illegals to visit the ER... so we're ALREADY paying for it.

So, youre against a plan because of something it doesnt do yet you think it does, and in favor of plan that does what youre upset about the other plan not doing what you think it does.

Ok, Im not attacking you because I have a good idea of your views, this question is more towards Judge Napolitano.

How in the heck is it unconstitutional to not provide healthcare to ILLEGAL immigrants? They are breaking the law by being here, so they have no "rights" to anything but a one way ticket back home. If they want to come in to the US, do it the proper, LEGAL way, and I wouldn't have a problem with them having the same rights as any US Citzen has.

    Hey LD,

I think his arguement was that if you single out one group (denial of healthcare), then the courts view it as discrimination and force their coverage upon the taxpayer.

I think he is saying that illegals would be considered a "class" and it is unconstitutional to deny a "class of people" what they offer everyone else, universally.

Here's a link to the discussion when Judge Napolitano says Obama is aware that it would be unconstitutional to deny illegals healthcare:

Shouldn't be doing it in the ER either.

thanks for the section number, I'll try to look it up. I led off with TWO main points and nobody has commented on the most important main point. Eh?

Then to really screw ordinary Americans, the tax code actually punishes people who don't get their health insurance through an employer by denying individuals the tax deduction for health insurance that their employers get.

HSA's could be very useful if the BHO was willing to fund them instead of insisting on total control. The last thing this den of thieves wants is more tax breaks.

Although the individual HSA premiums aren't deductible (should be) the deposits are. Paying medical bills with pre-tax money. What a concept!

See, there are a lot of common sense solutions which we don't need the thousand page bill to convolute and control.

    DB3.

You need to go read the text again, this time not using dailykos as a go between.

The text clearly says affordability credits, doesn't say illegals can't use the system.
    ---------

And I think it would be a great idea to add text asking for VERIFICATION. They could all just say, oh no, we had no idea that was an illegal. Cops don't even ask, New Orleans stated that they will not enforce illegal immigration, so why would doctor offices check?
