This is a tad more than just a peeve, but I just had two students -- in the same class -- turn in the same paper on an assignment. I think I'm mostly offended. Did they really think I wouldn't notice?

I taught school for 8 years and college for several more. If the cheaters would devote as much time simply studying as they do to inventing ways to cheat, they wouldn't have to cheat. Only those two didn't do too much in the way of inventing a scheme.
I briefly worked at a high school and I was always more insulted by blatant attempts to get out of class or whatever than clever ones. It really is almost as insulting that they'd think you wouldn't notice as it is that they cheated to begin with.
The little things that never get taken care of. Four inches of speed limit sign on Tech Drive across from baseball sheared off by the tornado three years ago and still covered by a traffic cone rather than removed. A 12-foot length of 4" pipe lying in the LTAC parking lot across from baseball for a year. The nasty front yards of the fraternity houses on Westwood Drive and rental houses on West Alabama.
Managed decline.
Reaching the end of a deodorant stick and watching the last 1/2 inch fall to the floor because you twisted it up too far.

Virtually every local sports radio personality using the word "obviously" at least once in every sentence. Sometimes twice.
If it's so obvious, why are we talking about it?
