But they increased the standard deduction to about offset it. I know this won't help if you have been intemizing.

Idiots that give a signal and STOP while in the LEFT lane of traffic.

This has happened twice in seven days. These individuals are too lazy and stupid to make a block to get their natty light and cigs.

that was the way they justified it. increasing the standard deduction doesn't help me -- it just reduces my incentive to itemize. i pay more either way.

I knew it would harm a lot of people. It was also supposed to make filing simpler - no Schedule A - but now we have Schedule 1.

If people were expecting simpler, they didn't get it. Forms 1040A & 1040EZ are gone. Schedule A still exists but very few will get to use it. Form 1040 used to be 2 pages but has been broken down and many could file the 1040 with supplemental Schedules 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5....so 6 pages.

Most will pay lower taxes but some will pay more. But it's not easier to file returns.

Itemizing deductions is a thing of the past for nearly all folks. Heck, as a married old fart, my standard deduction is $26,600.

That hurts my ears!!! It is just like saying he hung himself instead of correctly saying he hanged himself. Or, even worse, saying I raised my children. Horses, cattle, and chickens are raised.....children are reared!

It's a moot point, not a "mute" point. I see this mistake all the time on sports boards. It's equivalent to scratching fingernails on a chalk board.
