Peeve? What has happened to manners and common courtesy? Many examples, but let's start with smacking gum. You see coaches rudely chewing gum with their nasty mouths wide open. That's bad enough. But when some old lady does it on a plane in the seat behind you, well.... I asked her nicely to cease smackin', she frowned but did stop. Then during the approach she was doing it again. I unbuckled my seatbelt and started to get up, but her husband quickly said something to her, and she stopped again.
You can chew gum with your mouth closed. Practice it, if you have to.
