Calling soda the new tobacco, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom will introduce legislation this fall that would charge a fee to retailers that sell sugary beverages. There it is. The government is here to "help" each individual to make the right choices. It makes sense for the government to help people to make the right choices
This is the main ideological flaw with big government worshippers. They think the government is here to make decisions on the individual level when their job is to make administrative decisions for running the state.
Are they now gonna go after ihop and their pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream? Are they gonna tax the ice-cream trucks going about in the burbs?
How about dominos pizza?
This reminds me of that movie where Stallone went into the future and all foods were in pill form and it was only what you needed, it was illegal to consume extra amounts of salt, etc.
I just think that's a fundamental flaw with the pro-big-government crowd.
