Small line, big story?Asked by Letterman about the wisdom of the war in Iraq, Mr. Obama said, "because Saddam Hussein is not there, that's a good thing. He was somebody who certainly had aspirations to cause a lot of trouble."
Big story in only that Obama told the truth and didn't give some partisan spin like, "Nope... Bush lied."
He was opposed to the war before he was for it.
It is not logically incoherent to think something the wrong decision but to admit that a certain good came of it. For example, if I said that the unity of communities was a good that came of 9/11 that doesn't mean I am for the terrorists.

That's not what the "messiah"* said. He said it was good that Saddam is no longer there. That is all. Stating that he agreed with the war, or that it was a good thing is a straw man.

I do think the last sentence is interesting, though. It almost lumps Saddam in with the War on Terror by saying he had aspirations to do bad things. I dont know, I cant believe he went that far with it. He could have cut it off at getting Saddam removed was a good thing for the people there, but saying that he had bad aspirations is like saying it was necessary to get him out because he had plans of attacking other nations/the US.
Saddam has gotten a bad rap. Would have done bad things? We don't know that. It's not like he would have invaded a neighboring country or used WMDs against a foreign army or his own people....
