Separation of Church and State . . . stuff like this is why we need it.
I didn't get the impression this was government sponsored.
But by all means, it's just fine to say "Under God" in the pledge of allegiance! And hey, let's put Christian paraphernalia in federal buildings and cry bloody murder when they are told that it is not in compliance with Church and State!
(Not directing this at anyone, just a general observation)
Keeping them apart is a good idea. If you think about it, it's the only good option for the future.
The Politically Correct Czar said that the "Don't trust anyone" bills are coming out in time for Christmas....next year don't look for a Christmas.
Exactly! it means nothing to me. To some extent, I'm indifferent. It bothers some of my friends in the atheist community because they see it as an affront to their sensibilities, but doesn't bother me a great deal. Why? Religion isn't a part of our country's founding as I see it (we can argue that elsewhere if you'd like), but it is a part of our history as a nation .
Put another way, there's no way to ignore the Christian religion in the context of our unabridged history in this nation. For that reason, I think it makes at least some sense to be on our printed money.
I don't think that the existence of Christmas relies on "in God we trust" to be printed on money.
I may not believe in certain parts of the holiday, but I still love it. Christmas is my favorite holiday. I would fight to keep it The Yule has been celebrated by ancient Norse tradition and by ancient Rome (aka saturnalia). Some of the things that are part of the current Christmas tradition predate christianity by many, many centuries. (source)
