it means nothing to me. To some extent, I'm indifferent. It bothers some of my friends in the atheist community because they see it as an affront to their sensibilities, but doesn't bother me a great deal. Why? Religion isn't a part of our country's founding as I see it (
we can argue that elsewhere if you'd like), but it is a part of our history as a nation .
Put another way,
there's no way to ignore the Christian religion in the context of our unabridged history in this nation. For that reason, I think it makes at least some sense to be on our printed money.
I don't think that the existence of Christmas relies on "in God we trust" to be printed on money.
I may not believe in certain parts of the holiday, but I still love it. Christmas is my favorite holiday. I would fight to keep it
The Yule has been celebrated by ancient Norse tradition and by ancient Rome (aka saturnalia). Some of the things that are part of the current Christmas tradition predate christianity by many, many centuries. (
