A recently published administration document outlines a structure that could result in closures of sport fishing in salt and freshwater areas across America. The White House created an Interagency Oceans Policy Task Force in June and gave them only 90 days to develop a comprehensive federal policy for all U.S. coastal, ocean and Great Lakes waters. Under the guise of ‘protecting’ these areas, the current second phase of the Task Force direction is to develop zoning which may permanently close vast areas of fishing waters nationwide. This is to be completed by December 9, 2009.

I wouldn't be so sure... You honestly can't see some bureaucrat seriously limiting access to fishing in south Louisiana in the name of coastal wildlife preservation?

Obviously, that's a loaded question. Where I fish, we are already limited in where we can go. Why? To protect coastal wildlife. One place is a spot where my family had fished for years and we've never seen anything but nutria, crabs and flounder. Now we can't even take a kayak in there without severe penalty.

Table 3 shows income redistribution pre and post Obama. People that make up to $109k (combined household) will receive more benefit than they pay in tax. Should these people really have a say how other people's money is spent?

The task force has requested public input and the input of relevant businesses. The interim report is now available for public comment. http://www.whitehouse.gov/assets/doc...rce_FINAL2.pdf

And all of this will result in recommendations that have no force of law until placed into the form of statute (requires Congress) or regulations, which would have to go through the standard APA (Administrative Procedure Act) notice and comment period and be subject to judicial review as well as congressional intervention.

Rather than letting a company that manufactures fishing gear and sends out alarmist and misleading emails tell me how to think about something, I think I'm going to figure it out for myself. It took all of 5 minutes to find it on Google.

That says exactly what was posted. The federal government used tax dollars to create a proposal for drastic reductions in recreational fisheries. The fact that the post says recommendation instead of "outline" or "proposal" offers no new information. It also contains a contradiction for criticizing the input of the Shimano CEO even though it was made public to solicit input from relevant businesses.
