Shreveport is a tiny Dallas that occasionally pretends to be part of South Louisiana. Culturally, Shreveport is much, much more like northeast Texas than anything south of Alexandria. Interesting to me is that a ton of people I have met in Baton Rouge and New Orleans have never been farther north in Louisiana than Alexandria.Originally Posted by playdablues

Does Shreveport? Just kidding. I know they have that stuff. I've been to all three cities and in my eyes Shreveport's culture seems closer to Dallas than New Orleans. Accents, religious affiliations, ethinic backgrounds, political views, etc. I'm not saying Shreveport is all that like Dallas, just more like DFW than NO. All about proximity.
Clearly Shreveport plays off the whole cajun/crawfish/mardi gras thing like the rest of the state. But I stand by that statement.
True. But I could see that fact driving people away from them, too. What good does a Shreveport taxpayer get out of subsidizing the Saints? If he's a Saints fan already, his team stays (relatively) close by. If he isn't . . .
Good point Sean. You're right! As a taxpayer, the Saints have suddenly become very important to me (a lifelong Cowboys fan). I would prefer my tax dollars NOT support New Orleans' NFL franchise, but I wasn't given a choice.
I would send you a tissue if I could. I never said that you shouldnt cheer for the cowboys just because you live in Louisiana. I just said that it is more of a state team because of that.

Will the super bowl even come back after katrina? I don't remeber even seeing it in the future rotation. It will probably be replaced by the pallace in dallas.

I like the Saints. My wife and her family are fans. But I don't see what a Super Bowl in NO does to make a NW Louisiana resident care about watching the Saints on Fox instead of a closer team.
