    Metro-Jackson Area DAWGS...Question

Bringing my sweet bride of 23 years over to J-Town this weekend. i know it has grown dramatically since we moved from there in '93. What restaurants would y'all recommend? Is Shapley's still good? Your input is much appreciated!

Shapley's still has the best steaks.

Nick's is overrated considering how expensive it is.

    Bravo or Biaggis for Italian.

    Jerry's has the best catfish.

Hamil's or Fannin Mart or Two Sisters has the best home cookin'

There are so many good options, just depends onw hat kind of food you want. If you can narrow it down some, I can probably help more.

Hope you're packing heat. It's almost as bad as New Orleans.

I worked there last year for several months. I'm not recommending this one as a nice restaurant or anything... But the Philly cheese-steak at Lenny's sub shop with the Lenny's sauce was outstanding. Maybe a good quick lunch or something. Bring me one back would ya.

Nah, none of the good restaurants listed are located in the war zone areas of town. If you do find yourself in those parts of town, however, full auto capability is recommended. Hand grenades may also be useful.

    +1 on Julep.

There is also a really neat place called The Mermaid Cafe located out at Lake Caroline. it is run by the daughter of the guy who owns Nick's. they have a lot of the same menu items as Nick's, but at better prices. The place has a nice gulf coast vibe going on, it kind of feels like a place you'd see in Destin.
