    Sean Payton to Dallas...

    http://www.wafb.com/Global/story.asp?S=13994980

No doubt about it, he is paving the way to be the Cowboys' next headcoach. After Garrett fails miserably, which he will, Jones will get Payton, and looky there, the Paytons will already be living in Dallas. How convenient (said by the Church Lady)!

BTW, the Cowboys made a smart move getting Ryan as DC. That move alone will get them 10-11 wins and a playoff berth.

Oh, hope the title of this thread didn't cause a heart attack for Saints fans!

    Two-day-old news around Lincoln Parish.
Bluecrew has been all over this with his love for the Saints. He had an excellent heads up with a relative working in the school the Payton children were transferred out of.

    S. Payton will stay with the Saints for a very long time unless the team falls down all around him. Other very successful HC's in the NFL do the same thing.

Payton had a press conference yesterday to address his move. He said all the things you'd expect him to say, but he also said that he doesn't expect to coach much longer. He still has two years on his current contract and will probably be re-signed for an additional 4-5. But, his quote yesterday was something like, "I don't see myself coaching for another 10 years." His kids are almost high school age and he wants to spend time with them.

I'm sure he also has a future in the booth somewhere, so that might have something to do with it as well.

Could be. In his statement, he said two or three times that he "has two years left on his current contract." Really the only way for the Saints to silence this whole thing is to extend his contract. If not, it will never completely go away.

On the other hand, if he wants to be a GM, he is barking up the wrong tree in Dallas.

Who can blame him for not wanting his family to live in New Orleans? Sorry, great place to visit, but I would never live there.

I would not want to live away from my family, but this should be up to Payton family, not Saints fans. Let him live where he and his family choose, as long as it does not affect his coaching of the team. I don't thnk Tony LaRussa has ever "lived" in St. Louis. In the offi-season he goes home to California.

My parents lived there as well but moved away 1 year after Katrina. It was a great place prior to Katrina but you're saying not now???? We have a number of BB&Ber's that love living on that side of the Lake now.

These guys are hired guns, who cares? If I could live in Alexandria and work in Houston, I would do it. My job does not afford me the luxury of being able to afford two houses or the time to enjoy both.
