You also have to have a coaching staff that BELIEVES in press coverage & is NOT AFRAID to utilize this tool because, after all, one mistake in press coverage & its 6 for the opponent.

Kind of like Peterson at the flagship? I heard he jammed our wrs at the line of scrimmage like no one would believe.

I must reluctantly agree with you about the CB south of us---he can press as well as anyone in the game--at ANY LEVEL!

Ca-ching! It's back to those coaching changes that are needed (at least TWO; I'd replace three)

Kyle Wilson for BSU was pretty good at pressing but it didn't work on DENNIS MORRIS.

    He's 6'1 212. He's a monster.

I think a healthy Livas could foot-fire him.

Cruz would have to slap and swim since he's so tall. Probably not strong enough to do that to Petersen.

I thought Cruz did better than I thought he would against Petersen. He actually got open deep on 2 occassions, but we couldn't get him the ball.

You talking about one of the times Cruz dropped it?

Yes. And like the 2nd play of the game on a play action... he had a couple of steps on PP.

There was one play where Morris got behind Peterson in the first half and Morris would have caught the ball but Peterson interfered with him, but, it wasn't called. Can you imagine an sec ref missing that? :bigcry:

They went from 1-11 in JJ year 1 to 7-5 (tied for 1st place in cusa) in JJ year 2.... with the recruiting coming in... I gotta give props for what
JJ has going on... they should be pretty dang good in 2011....
also anyone else notice he's going back to Hawaii for the Hawaii Bowl?? (possibly against HI) should be an interesting home coming....

I will take more quality in fewer numbers than a lot of numbers any time.

I wouldn't discount the quality that SMU is getting. After all, they're bowling while we're watchin' 'em on TV.

All those recruits and their still like #56. They highest rank they have is 3 stars and only have four of those. They have a total of 980 recruiting points while most of the top teams are pushing 4000. Not saying June Jones is not doing a good job, but you won't see SMU back to its glory days until this number is around 3000. Although them making a bowl game after 20 years IS saying something, I still remember when they one back to back national titles

“Many of you criticize what you cannot understand, too often you’re too quick to scorn the records of a man who made young men believe their sweat was not in vain and that rising to the top required sacrifice and pain and that no one could take away what was not given. He kept them focused on the prize and demanded they stay driven.......time has passed, some words forgotten, but his wisdom will always echo in our ears and our hearts, down to our very marrow”

Peterson owned the missing link J. Jones when he was in the game. I think he was the top rated player in Florida when he came out.
