Scariest move is Missouri to Big ten, TCU to Big 12, and Boise replacing TCU in mountain west.

I agree as per my post above. Except you have to add an extra team headed to the Big10 (probably a Big East team) because they want a playoff game. But that still only starts a one conference team move at a time type of thing leaving just one possible spot for TECH in CUSA in the end.
Arkansas had much better talent in almost every sport that matters when they were in the SWC. Arkansas was always at or near the top of all the Texas Blue Chippers lists. Not anymore and you can tell by judging their on the field/court results. They had a HUGE recruiting base in D/FW. D/FW is also a major, major alumni base for Ark. Also Arkansas never left the Big12. They left the SWC. BIG, BIG dollar difference between the SEC and SWC. They still make more $$ than the Big12 but not enough more to keep a school like UA if they think the move will make them better. It wouldn't be a stupid move at all. Plus they reunite with their biggest rival in Texas.
If Arkansas turns down the Big12 and the Big12 gets TCU watch what happens when TCU gets a hold of that BCS money. They already have a better team than Arkansas as it is. With the kind of facilities and recruiting budget the Big12 will allow TCU might make that situation permanent. We will see who is stupid then!
Arkansas did not leave the Big12. The Razorbacks left the old Southwest Conference (SWC) back in 1992, 4 full years before the start of the Big 12 in 1996. Obviously, the Big 12 is a much different (and better) conference than the old SWC.
For the record, there was an article in the Dallas Morning News this week declaring that the Univ of Texas is BY FAR the richest football program in America, netting over 85 Million in the past year. According to the article, UT is much richer than the 3 richest football programs in the SEC (Florida, Alabama and Tennessee), and much richer now than the traditional winner, Ohio State.
The point is, the Big 12 doesn't hurt Texas financially, and it wouldn't hurt Arkansas either. The Razorbacks would do just fine financially in the Big 12, and would likely benefit from the closer geography and the Texas recruiting.

since they is already a Big 12, would they be called the underachieving 12? ; D
The point was and is that ARKANSAS chose to separate from the SWC/BIG 12 teams to get the $$ of the SEC. Period! They will not want to go back unless it's to be in a easier conference per less competition. And UT is only rich due to their status of being "the/a" land grant school of Texas (tons of O&G money) not because of being in the Big 12. Their rolling in the dough $$ has nothing at all to do with the Univ.Texas's position in the Big 12.
But FWIW, I totally agree with your TCU comments BD13.
Arkansas would jump to the Big 12 in a minute. The Arkansas fans miss the rivalry with Texas. The sec has hurt Arkansas' recruiting. When they were in the SWC, 75% of their players were from Texas. They have to be able to recruit Texas to be successful. That's why they have a 10 year contract with Texas A&M with all 10 games being played in Dallas.
“Many of you criticize what you cannot understand, too often you’re too quick to scorn the records of a man who made young men believe their sweat was not in vain and that rising to the top required sacrifice and pain and that no one could take away what was not given. He kept them focused on the prize and demanded they stay driven.......time has passed, some words forgotten, but his wisdom will always echo in our ears and our hearts, down to our very marrow”
I think it will be Pitt. Private school, similar historical football history, and getting out of the Big East into a more stable conference.
However, the quote "...said the conference already has investigated possibilities for expansion "from all over the country." It sounds like they'd be willing to expand their footprint... How about Boston College (who hasn't been terribly happy with their ACC move??)
